Squad update from Jack Kelly

By | May 20, 2013

Well done to all who attended the Eastern Squad session on Sunday.  Paul and I would particularly like to congratulate the coaches for their work between squads because it is becoming apparent that the gymnasts are beginning to develop the sound technical habits we have been promoting over  the last 12 months. Squad selection is  always difficult, and we can never accommodate all the gymnasts who would like to attend, but all coaches in the region should remember that they are welcome to attend squads as part of their CPD whether they have gymnasts on the squad or not.

We had a number of late ‘call offs’ this time and whilst it is understood  emergencies and late injuries can arise, coaches must be mindful that we can’t always get ‘wild card’ replacements at short notice, so a late cancellation means that someone has been denied an opportunity. Please bear this in mind when notifying non attendance. Of course It is important that coaches attend with their gymnast, but if the coach finds they have to make a late cancellation, we would be happy for the gymnast to attend with a parent rather than miss out or prevent a wildcard replacement.

We look forward to the next set of monthly test results which are beginning to provide a developing bank of information both in terms of performance and attitude. Keep up the good work everyone!

Paul and Jack.
