The UKCC Coach Education syllabus

Proficiency coach

Skills on the proficiency award syllabus up to Award 7, plus support for ¾ turnover with a qualified coach

Age 14+

Level 1:

Beginner through to ¾ turnover, including twists to and from all body landings

Age 16+

Level 2:

Shaped and linked front and back somersaults, tucked, piked baranis and straight baranis, ¾ front and ¾ back somersaults straight.

Age 17+ to take the course, 18+ to attain qualification

Level 3:

Module 1:  somersaults from body landings, 1¼ front and back somersaults (equivalent to the cycle 5/6 club coach)

Module 2:  ½ twisting crash dive, ½ twisting ¾ back ss. Full twisting back somersault, rudi, double fulls, rudi ballouts

Module 3:  1¾ front somersault, competition knowledge

Module 4:  ½ out and double backs

No assessment on the day, assessment is by arrangement with the tutor or technical expert.

Three generic modules that cover mechanics, sports psychology, anatomy, nutrition plus others.

Modules must be taken in order,  the student coach must be assessed and signed-off of the previous but one module before attending the next, for example, the student coach must have be assessed and signed-off on Module 1, before Module 3 can be attended and the student must be assessed and signed-off on Module 2 before Module 4 is attended.  The Generic weekends can be attended at any time during the study.

Completion of the 4 modules and the three generic weekends, plus assessment in the coaches club and via conference call and a theory examination leads to the final qualification.  This is the equivalent of the cycle 5/6 senior club coach award.

Generic UKCC up-date:

For cycle 5/6 coaches who wish to move onto the UKCC, it will be necessary to attend relevant days of an L2 order to gain the information and training to follow the UKCC coaching pathway and is a pre-requisite for coaches who wish to move onto this path in order to achieve higher qualifications.

Sports specific technical up-date day:

For qualified cycle 5/6 level 2 coaches, this is a pre-requisite for those wishing to move on to UKCC Level 3. A one-day up-date with no required assessment

The HPC (High Performance Coach)

This award will be replaced in 2014 by the new Performance and High Performance awards (as listed below).  BG intends to run at least one more HPC course before it is replaced by the new PC and HPC structure.

This award is available for Cycle 5/6 senior club coaches and Level 3 UKCC coaches.  Coaches must have performers competing at National level (NPD 7 and above) and be able link double somersaults before attending the course.

Syllabus: Multiple twisting fliffs.
Add-on module: Triffs.

Performance Coach

This award is available for Cycle 5/6 senior club coaches and Level 3 UKCC coaches. Coaches must have performers competing at National level (NPD 7 and above) and be able link double somersaults before attending the course.

Syllabus: Multiple twisting fliffs, up to and including one and half twisting fliffs.

High Performance Coach

This award is available for Performance Coaches. Coaches must have performers competing at National level (NPD 7 and above) and be able link double somersaults before attending the course.
